Alan Hanson, M.D.

Dr. Hanson joined Denver Nephrology in 1993. A graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. Hanson worked as a process engineer at Hewlett-Packard before going to medical school and also holds a degree in physics. Dr. Hanson was the 1991 recipient of the NKF/Burroughs Wellcome Fellowship Grant for Nephrology Research and the primary author of several research papers.

He cares for patients with kidney disease at our Denver office, and since 2006 has turned his passion for dialysis patients’ vascular access care into his major focus. After completing his training in Interventional Nephrology he assumed co-Medical Directorship of Denver Nephrology’s Vascular Access Center along with Dr. Kaveh Kian.

His current outside interests include skiing, hiking, woodworking, and music.
