Transplantation

The collaborative Transplant Program between Denver Nephrology and Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center originated in October, 1985, under the direction of Transplant Surgeon, Dr. Everett Spees. Since that time, the program has performed over 1000 kidney transplants.Denver Nephrology continues to provide Medical Director duties for the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s program, under the direction of our own Dr. Brad Marder.

Dr. Brad Marder joined the Denver Nephrology Transplant team in 2003, having received his Transplant Nephrology training at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. Both he and Dr. Alan Cooper are UNOS-certified transplant physicians. Denver Nephrology’s Dr. Michael Shomaker is also a transplant-trained nephrologist who practices as part of our practice’s medical team in Transplantation.

Patients with chronic kidney disease who desire more information about receiving a kidney transplant should discuss this option with their nephrologist and may call the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Transplant Center at 303-869-2155.
